சமுதாயத்தில் உள்ள குறைபாடுகளை சுட்டி காட்டும் கதை அம்சம் உள்ள படங்கள் என்றுமே இயக்குனர் ஜனநாதன் உடைய பெரும் பலமாகும். அவரது பைனரி பிச்சர்ஸ் மற்றும் யு டி வீ மோசன் பிச்சர்ஸ் இணைந்து வழங்கும் 'புறம்போக்கு' அத்தகைய ஒரு கதை அம்சம் கொண்ட படமாகும். ஆர்யா, விஜய் சேதுபதி, ஷ்யாம் , மற்றும் கார்த்திகா என நட்சத்திர குவியலாக திகழும் இந்த படம் துரித வேகத்தில் படமாக்கபடுகிறது. 'புறம்போக்கு' படத்தை பற்றி சில கருத்துகளை பகிர்ந்துக் கொள்கிறார் இயக்குனர் ஜனநாதன். 'சிறையில் உள்ள எல்லோருமே குற்றவாளிகள் அல்ல.. நமது சரித்திரத்தின் பெரும் அத்தியாயங்கள் சிறை சாலையில் தான் அரங்கேறி உள்ளது. மகாத்மா காந்தி , நெல்சன் மண்டேலா போன்ற மாபெரும் தலைவர்கள் சிறைசாலையில் இருந்து தான் தங்களது வெற்றி சரித்தரத்தை துவங்கினர். சிறை சாலை என் படத்தில் ஒரு முக்கிய கதா பாத்திரமாகவே இருந்து உள்ளது என்றால் மிகை ஆகாது.என் படத்தில் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களின் பெயர்களும் நமது சரித்தரத்தில் இருந்து எடுக்க பட்டது தான். சுதந்திர போராட்ட காலத்தில் மதுரையில் பிறந்து பின்னர் ஆந்திராவில் வாழ்ந்த வரலாற்று நாயகன் பாலுவின் பெயர்தான் ஆர்யாவுக்கு சூடப்பட்டு உள்ளது. சுதந்திர போராட்டத்தில் முக்கிய பங்கு ஆற்றிய தமிழகத்தின் புரட்சி வீராங்கனை வேலு நாச்சியார் அவர்களின் பாசறையில் முக்கிய பங்கு வகித்து , பின்னர் ஆங்கிலேயர்களின் ஆயுத கிடங்கை மனித வெடிகுண்டாக மாறி அழித்த குயிலின் பெயர் கார்த்திகாவுக்கும், ஆங்கிலேயர் காலத்தில் அவர்களது கல்வி முறையை அறிமுக படுத்தியவரும், ஆங்கிலேயர்களின் கடுமையான தண்டனை முறையை அறிமுக படுத்தியவருமான மெக்கலே வின் பெயர் ஷ்யாமுக்கும், மிகவும் வித்தியாசமான யாரும் எதிர்பாராத ஒரு முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடிக்கும் விஜய் சேதுபதியின் கதா பாத்திரத்துக்கு யமலிங்கம் என்று பெயர் சூட்ட பட்டு உள்ளது. கலை இயக்குனர் செல்வகுமாரின் கை வண்ணத்தில் உருவான அந்த பிரம்மாண்டமான சிறை சாலை அரங்கின், ஒவ்வொரு சதுரத்தையும் தனது நேர்த்தியான ஒளிபதிவு மூலம் படமாக்கி உள்ளார். ஒளிபதிவாளர் எக்கம்பரம். தொழில் நுட்ப தேவைகளுக்கு சிறிதும் தயங்காமல் , படத்தின் தரமே முக்கியம் என உறுதுணையாக இருந்த யு டி வி நிறுவனத்துக்கும் நன்றி ' என கூறினார் இயக்குனர் ஜனநாதன். |

Director S.P.Jhananathan never lags behind in pin pointing the deficiencies in the society through his films. His much expected 'Purampokku' produced by UTV Motion Pictures along with Binary pictures with an enviable star cast of Arya, Vijay Sethupathi, Shaam and Karthika is being shot in a rapid pace. Jhananathan had a few points to share on this mega project produced by UTV Motion pictures. 'Not all confined in prison are guilty. Many of our historical changes made their debut behind the prison doors. People like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and many leaders created history behind iron bars. The names for the principle characters were selected from the Indian history. Arya is named as Balu who was a real legend, born in Madurai and lived in Andhra as a cop later. Karthika is named after Kuyili lieutenant of Velu Nachiyar, she was the freedom fighter who swapped herself to be a human bomb to destroy the Britons arm godown. Shaam was named Macualy who designed the education system and punishment rules of the British regime. Vijay Sethupathi is named Yamalingam, an absolute brat of a character. The efforts of my principle technicians Ekambaram the cameraman, and the Art director Selvakumar has ensured a fabulous journey of shooting schedule in the prison sets which were erected in the City. The support of UTV in fulfilling the requirement of the technical team has been tremendous' concluded the director known for his candid views..S.P. JHANANATHAN.
