HTBF Cricket Tournament 2025: A Celebration of Sport and Generosity in Hong Kong

 

HTBF's mission is to provide access to university education thereby enabling visually-impaired students in India to get jobs in today’s modern economy. Towards this mission, they provide skills training through our EMET program, coaching for examinations and personal development initiatives as well.


The 2025 edition of the HTBF Cricket Tournament, an annual event organized by the Indian community in Hong Kong, brought energy and purpose to the Hard Surface Soccer Pitch at Junction Road Park on April 4. The tournament turned into a hub of spirited competition and charitable efforts, showcasing the deep connection between sport and community.


Cricket enthusiasts, donors, and volunteers united to make the event a resounding success. The tournament featured thrilling matches that included surprise victories and standout performances, as well as prestigious awards such as Best Bowler, Best Batsman, and Most Valuable Player. Each game, each cheer, and each award reflected the collective efforts of those involved and contributed to the event’s larger cause.

 

Key supporters included Mr. Ramani, Former HTBF Managing Trustee in India, and Mr. Jimmy M Master, Director of HTBF in Hong Kong, alongside the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong, whose valuable assistance played a major role in the tournament’s success.

 

Although Consul General Smt. Satwant Khanalia was unable to attend the event, she conveyed her appreciation for the charitable initiative through a heartfelt message.

Additional contributions included 37 Westinghouse appliances sponsored by Mr. Vijay Mohinani of Mason Global Ltd, lunch provided by Mrs. Manju Vaswani & Mr. Sonu Vaswani, and delicious food catered by Mr. Robin.

 

Special recognition was given to the many volunteers and supporters who provided HTBF T-shirts, logistics, prize distribution, and on-ground support. The contributions of Mr. Viswanath & Mrs. Lakshmi Vemuri, Mr. Hiro Dayaram & Mr. Satesh Dayaram, Mr. Prince, Mr. Mohan & Mr. Tamil Selvan, Mr. Santhosh, Mr. Venky, and Mr. Krishnan were deeply appreciated.


As the teams delivered competitive matches and the umpires ensured fair play, the 2025 HTBF Cricket Tournament underscored the power of sport to unite and inspire. The event was not only a testament to athleticism but also a celebration of community spirit and generosity.

 

The event was successfully coordinated by Mr. Padmanabhan, fondly known as Paddu, whose meticulous efforts ensured its seamless execution.


The HTBF Cricket Tournament now looks ahead to its next innings in 2026, promising another year of cricket with a cause.

 

Result:

Island Rangers team won against Socially United team by 5 wickets. (66/9 to 69/4 in 10 overs)
