Thirukkural translation in Danish (டேனிஷ் மொழியில் திருக்குறள் மொழிபெயர்ப்பு)

Of the four major Scandinavian languages (Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Icelandic and Faroese), the Kural has been so far rendered into Swedish and Danish. The only two translations in Danish appeared in the last 2-3 years (2022 and 2023). The first one is solely a result of an initiative taken by the Tamil diaspora in Denmark and the second one a product of an institution’s commitment within Tamil Nadu. The latter one has the unique distinction of being authored by four translators, perhaps the maximum number of translators to have ever worked together in the history of Thirukkural translations.

 

The first translation in Danish authored by Marianne Steen Isak was released by Hon’ble Mr. Justice R. Mahadevan, High court of Madras during an online programme on 15-01- 2022.
