Thirukkural Translation in Kashmiri (காஷ்மீரியில் திருக்குறள் மொழிபெயர்ப்பு) |
||||||||||||
Kashmiri (Koshur) may not be a cultivated language like some of the languages Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali or even Hindi, but the land of Kashmir has been the birth- place of many literary classics in Sanskrit and Prakrit in the past. Notable among them are Rajatharangini, Vajjalaggam, Amaru Satakam, Nilmata Purana, Tantraloka and many more. The Kashmiri language had its own script, the Sharada script, which was in use for a few centuries after its advent in circa 800 CE. After the advent of Islam and impact of it, Perso-Ar- abic script has been in use for many centuries. Perso-Arabic script is the official script of the Jammu and Kashmir gov- ernment for Kashmiri language. Devanagari is hardly used for writing Kashmiri, but surprisingly the Kashmiri translation brought out by CICT employs Devanagari script.
Translation Details: The translation was released by the Indian Prime Minister in December 2023.
