Thirukkural translations in Malay (மலாய் மொழியில் திருக்குறள் மொழிபெயர்ப்பு) |
|||||||||||||
Bahasa Melayu has seen the maximum number of Thirukkural translations in any Austronesian language. It goes without saying that the dynamic Tamil community living in Ma- laysia is the main driving force for the seven translations to ap- pear so far. Five of these translators are Tamils. Two complete Chinese and Malay translations of the Thirukkural came out in the same year (1967) and both were products of the Univer- sity of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Prior to that in 1964, Ramly Bin Haji Thakir translated selections of the Kural in verse. CICT’s efforts to get the Thirukkural translated into many languages produced yet another translation in 2023 by Arulselvan Raju. Using the contacts of the Tamil Diaspora in Malaysia, it is not an impossible task to procure hard copies of most of these translations, as long as they are in print.
Thanks for the support:
Dr.Mallika Ramaiah from Malaysia volunteered and sent Malay translation book for the project. She took the responsibility to reach out to Tamil scholars and get a copy of this book. We are very thankful to her for her Tamil spirit, energy, understanding the importance of this project. Other translations in Malay:
